This presentation provided by Shellin Chuong, CSS Text Line Supervisor, will focus on concrete skills needed to support clients using text messaging. Even with the best of intentions, it can be hard to practice active listening using text messages, and it can be even harder to talk about safety and assess various situations. Shellin brings more than three years of experience on the CSS Text Line to this presentation and will aim to address the benefits and challenges of using text messaging to communicate with clients and explores ways those limitations can be overcome. Though provided from the perspective of a helping professional, this session is appropriate for those working in a helping role, education setting, as well as community members.
