On behalf of the board, staff, and volunteers at Crisis Support Services of Alameda County, thank you for joining us for Healing Hearts: 5K Walk/Run for Suicide Prevention. Special thanks to our sponsors: Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, East Bay Express, and Bay Area Community Services (BACS). We couldn’t do it without them!
Thank you to our amazing emcee Gloryanna Valerio-Leonce for keeping the energy high and the Oakland Raiderettes for cheering us on. Many thanks to the Family Education and Resource Center (FERC), Peers Envisioning & Engaging in Recovery Services (PEERS), Bay Area Community Services (BACS), East Bay Community Recovery Project, and McKinnon Body Therapy Center for partnering with us for the Healing Hearts Health & Wellness Fair.
Thanks especially to you for making it out and for helping us make a difference in the community. The tragedy of suicide touches very deeply, and we came together to those we have lost; to offer our hand to those who are left behind; to help educate the community and raise awareness of the many service agencies who are available to help those in crisis; and to stand together to reduce the stigma that is often associated with depression, mental illness and suicide.
Event photos have been uploaded to our Facebook page, so check them out and tag yourself. Post yours to the Healing Hearts Facebook event page or message us directly!
We hope you can join us again for next year’s Healing Hearts on Saturday, June 4th, 2016.
